acceleration/driving problem

well i have a problem. as i was driving today, going around 40..rpms at 2300 or so, well all of a sudden they just dropped to 1000 flat! all my acceleration was gone, so i punched the gas and it came back...it did this all the way to work..well on the way home, the rpms never dropped, but at every light, acceleration would hesitate, like trip, and then go. and this is the first time it has ever done this!i dont like it!..has anyone had anything similar to this and what was it please!! Thanks a bunch.
Kyle

Check the fuel filter, fuel pump and maybe bad gas? When did you last do a major maintenance cycle to your vehicle? I see it has 128K miles.

It could be the TPS. Hesitation is one of the symptoms of a bad one.

Here is a page on the TPS.

Check the fuel filter, fuel pump and maybe bad gas?
I would do this first and you may want to try running some complete fuel system cleaner and a tank of premium through it too.

I hope this helps.

Good Luck
