AC condensor on a third gen.

I just nicked my A/C condensor with an angle grinder accidentally when doing some trimming, its about to begin to get cold here and i was wondering if waiting to replace this and leaving the hole open will ruin any other components ofthey system.

Well if it leaks out, the rest of the system should still be ok. It should have a switch that doesn’t allow the compressor to turn on if the charge is to low.

they make radiator and condensor sealer. It is just like glue that covers up nicks like that. I would go to an auto parts store and buy some to limp your system through the winter rather than it leaking.

Did the AC system leak refrigerent out of the nick? If it did blow the charge, at the very least you should clean the area really well and epoxy it until you can replace the condensor. An AC system left open to atmosphere through a hole like that is not good. Moisture can ruin the system by causing internal corrosion.

Ditto, do not just leave that open to the air all winter or you may find you need a bunch more stuff replaced to get the system going again later. At the very least seal the system shut to the outside air (silicone sealant would probably work best). Then just replace the part in spring.
