Someone has placed a screaming cat under the hood of my truck and I want it gone! (98 Tacoma 4x4) Belt started screeching the other day and throwing molten hot chunks of hot rubber up against the wheel well, I figured the belt was bad and needed replacing. 1 new belt later and it still screams and smokes, the belt gets ridiculously hot to the touch within a minute. Does this mean the AC compressor has crapped the bed and needs replacing? I'm at a loss

 

common sense would say yes. with belt off check all pullys for free rotation...theres ur answer...
