aamco?

I need some reviews on aamco. Gonna have my tranny rebuilt and just wanted to know if they were any good, so far i found 3 negatives and bout 2 positives from them looking for more. Anyone know of any good tranny shops here in So Cal. Buena Park, Fullerton area. Or any other big tranny shops like aamco? thanx

Local Better Business Bureau is a good place to check and some word of mouth references would be the place I would take mine. Don't let anyone work on it that won't warranty it parts/labor for a year IMO.

I had the tranny replaced, along with the clutch assembly in my 5.0L mustang by those guys in Oklahoma City... not very happy with the job they did... by the time I drove the car 2000 miles, the clutch was worn out completely! Plus, they really hacked up my aftermarket exhaust, trying to get it apart... I guess they did not see the bolts, holding the flanges together!

I had a rebuilt trans put in my Oldsmobile about 15 years ago. It came with a lifetime warranty. If you get a warranty like that I say go for it.
It was installed by aamco but I no longer have the vehicle so as far as longevtivity, couldn't tell ya. I would also check on that specific aamco, afterall its the mechanic not the chain that will make or break it.

Oh, forgot to mention if you are warrantied through aamco yot can take it to any shop in the country. I had a clutch installed on my girl friends car when I lived in Santa Monica. We moved to the bay area shortly after that and her clutch went to ˟˟˟˟˟. The shop we took it to was independent and I didn't have time to drive back to LA and stay to have it fixed. So I took it to an independent shop in the bay area and they told me I needed a new clutch. We had about a 1000 miles on the clutch so I told them were to go. I took it to aamco the next day and they replaced the slave cylinder for $200 bucks and all was well. Moral of the story is, if I would have taken it to aamco I wouldn't have had to go through all that ˟˟˟˟˟. The aamco shop was totaly honest with me and the independent shop wanted to rip me off and throw in a new clutch.

Go to any legit search engine and key in AAMCO.

They've been sued by more state level attorney generals than any nation wide auto care co. I can think of. Next worse would be Jiffy Lube.

The nation wide chains for the most part do lousy work.

By and large, they employ 3rd rate techs and are only interested in purging your wallet of $$$.

Find a good independent in your area.
