At what amount of increase in engine hp and torque will a valve body upgrade be needed for the A340F transmission? Are there specific hp and torque values that this transmission can reliably take without resorting to a valve body upgrade?

I don't think there is an exact level which has been set.....it more comes down to if you have a S/C or not and how you drive the vehicle (ie it is possible to have a S/C and not do the valve body upgrade if you tend to baby the vehicle and vice versa as well). If you have a S/C and you intend to get full use out of it, then most recommend to do the upgrade.
