He was doing about 35... and good question, but it was clear when me and my wife looked, he musta came from a side street or something...

What do you mean in front of traffic, it was a U-turn spot, usually at those you can u-turn and merge back in to traffic... just that chevy (as always in most accidents) came out of no where.

Yep, that is how it works in most all states.. If you are entering a way and cause an accident you are at fault.. The other person was in his line of traffic and not changing direction.. Same argument when someone is pulling out of a side street..

Air bags also have to have a direct hit in the front center to go off (except for side bags)

Well Ill be calling this place in Bellevue to get it fixed, I know one of the workers of a bodyshop there, and from what i hear they don't use aftermarket parts... which maybe more expensive, but thats something I want...even though it might take a while before I get it back, I'm confident that it will be as good as new... Im very suprised at the speed that he hit us, that there was relatively little damage, I mean for the exception of my steering being tweaked the airbox and A/C radiator, and MAYBE the power steering unit.. nothing else was damaged except the body... I mean im surprised i wasnt leaking fluid everywhere, and the fan shreded things, belts went flying... Im very happy with the strength and durability of these toyotas... but hopefully ill say that after I get the bill =)

I'm just glad I wasnt in the accident with my previous vehicle.. the 1998 Mitsubishi Eclispe GSX woulda been soft butter to that full size truck, and might have lost someone I loved.. or at least had to take her to the hospital... thanks for all your guy's support and words... ill be offroading in no time..

There is a great body shop at 124th ST and 405 in Kirkland. Its right across from Dennys or Applebees (cant remember what's across the street)

Anyway, I think they are called Kirkland Auto Rebuild or something. I was happy with their work and especially their service.

They also worked with me on some customization that they threw into the deal. PM if you need any more info.

Glad to hear you're OK. Must have been near that shell station. There are lots of stinking little side roads in that stupid town.

*rant mode off*

Most airbags need a frontal impact of over 15mph to trigger the bags. If they do go off you look like Casper the ghost due to the talc powder the bags are packed with.

The accident I was in (pics on the "how fast have you driven" post), I was 70 mph and the other was 100+ mph. They sideswiped me (same direction), I went on an off road adventure and stopped in the median, and they went into the median and rolled (at least once). No airbags in either car went off.

Sorry to hear about your (temp) loss. I kinda got a chuckle out of one of the pics in your gallery. This pile of toyota parts on the side of the road is the saddest thing i've seen lately! I remember when i had a front end collision last year, there were toyota parts all over the street. I had to pick them all up cause the sight and sound of the other cars running over my baby's parts was not cool!

Best of luck!

Yea I had all the parts piled up... strangly enough the front grill is not scratched, one of the clips that holds it on is broken, but its ok... Im thinking if they are going to replace it, ill hang the grill in my garage...

Im taking it in in about an hour to Collision Service Repair in Bellevue, so i guess I gotta go get it ready... hopefully it hasn't given up the ghost overnight, it drove from issaquah to marysville with no prob.. hopefully it can make it back =)
