99 4Runner LTD - Swap out front bumper for SR5 bumper?

Hey everyone.

I'm looking at potentially replacing my rear bumper(s) on my 99 4Runner Limited. It got dinged up pretty good a few years ago and now is rusting pretty good.

My model is the white with silver molding/trim. My bumpers on the front and back are both silver/grey. My emblems are chrome/silver.

I found a place that sells a chrome replacement rear bumper set (both the back and 2 sides) for under $200. I'm wondering if I should pull the trigger and replace the front bumper as well with a chrome SR5 version???

Does anyone know if there are any complications with putting a SR5 front bumper on a Limited? My one thought was the fog lamps (which don't work anyway). I am not sure the SR5 has them.

Other than that, I actually really like the look of the SR5 chrome bumpers and think it would look nice. Just wondering what you all think from a technical perspective? Any words of advice or warnings?

Thanks!

The front chrome SR5 fat lipped bumper on 98+ LTD should work, plastics/valance may be different. Rear 3 piece bumper is the same. The chrome aftermarket stuff is pretty cheap, inspect it at the store for dings on pickup. I put a new chrome tinfoil front bumper on my 97 sr5 fitment was OK, but early models are easier to change.

Thanks Malcolm! Unfortunately the parts would be mail order via ebay, but there seemed to be a number of happy buyers.

My biggest hesitation is whether I could pull off the front bumper without breaking anything. I read a post from a guy that worked with a mechanic friend for 5 hours to pull a LTD front bumper off and put it back on... I am not a mechanic. =)

Good to know it should fit though. Thanks.

fitment is a 2 person job, the ltd bumper does look difficult in comparison to older sr5's!. I would park beside and 98+ Sr5 to see what plastic will fit on yours, you don't want to have to by new valance, ect.

you may have to drill holes into the SR5 bumper to accommodate the flares since most SR5s that I have seen do not have the Limited flares.
