98 4Runner sr5 Interchangeable rear enda

I was driving last night and come to find out something with my rear end is bad. If I can find a whole rear for a decent price I’ll just swap it out completely I just need to know what will fit. It’s a 98 SR5 2wd Auto

thanks guys

Pretty much any 3rd gen 4Runner (not Tacoma) reax axle will bolt on. So 1996 - 2002.

There are differences in the gear ratios, you'd need to figure that out. The door sticker has an axle code on it that should let you know what yours is. It's probably a bit less important on a 2WD since it doesn't have to match the front diff, but you'd want to probably keep it the same.

Does your 4Runner have ABS? I'm not sure if any US market 3rd gens didn't, but it's another possible compatibility issue.
