97 Taco need some help

Hi everyone,

I have a 97 Taco and i am having an issue. I am trying to wire in a SPDT toggle switch for the turn signals using the existing factory wiring. I have the wire diagram but the colors in the diagram do not match what I have in the truck. There is supposed to be GRN / BLU/RED / GRN/WHT coming off the old switch, but I do not have a GRN wire, there is a GRN wire where the plug is for the AirBag but I assume that is for the airbag. Has anyone ever wired in a toggle switch for their turn signals?

Thanks

Ok now tell us the rest of the story ??

How did you get to this point ??

Why not just repair or replace the factory switch

Your using the schematic for the correct year ??

I don`t have the 97 EWD so I could only guess.

Just where are you trying to splice into the wires ??

To connect things to the hazard switch and ground.

How did you get to this point ?? I read online about everyone saying there are 2 screws to get the old turn signal switch out, but on my truck there is no way to get at the 2 screws without removing the steering wheel which I am not going to do. So I figured I could just as easily wire in a switch.

Why not just repair or replace the factory switch - See above

Your using the schematic for the correct year ?? Yes it is a wiring schematic for a 1997 Tacoma

Just where are you trying to splice into the wires ?? I am working with the wires in the steering column at the moment near the switch.
