97 2wd v6 4runner master cylinder or brake booster?

ok..replaced front brakes rear brakes look good, not losing any break fluid, plenty of vacuum to the brake booster. bled brakes.

Now when the brake is applied I can feel it start to slow the vehicle but the pedal goes to the floor, upon applying the brake a second time my pedal gets hard and allows me to completely stop. there is no difference in my brake pedal when the vehicle is running or off, however when I park and turn off the ignition I feel the pedal push back against me.

So how do I tell if it is the master cylinder or the brake booster? Any suggestions?

thanks,
wahunt2

to me that sound's like there is still air in the system. i'd try bleeding them again, but that's just me...

+1 on the air in system. In my accord when the brake was on the floor i was just slowing down, no matter how hard i pressed i would only slow down and i had to keep pumping the brakes to get more pressure to stop the vehicle. at stop lights i had to pump in order to stay stopped sometimes. that was my master cylinder.
