I have a Tacoma with the 2.7 that dies randomly like you turned the key off BUT starts right back and runs fine. No CEL or codes. The engine runs fine other then the randomly shutting off.


I have checked the ignition coil which checked good.
Fuel pressure was steady at 46psi at idle and under load
I've put new plugs, wires, and battery no help.


Is there a common problem with these engines that causes this? I'm about at my wits end over this thing.

 

Anyone? Any ideas?

 

Is it ever hard to start?

 

Never.....it starts right. Even when it dies it will start right back up.
Things I've done: fuel filter plugs wires distributor cap rotor button crank sensor coolant sensor and 1 fuel injector. It was way out of spec on resistance.

 

I was gonna suggest IAC but if its not hard to start I doubt its that.
