96 4runner ignition switch

Some times my 4runner wont let the key turn to the lock/off position. It I unhook the battery negative cable it comes right out. I think it might be the interlock solenoid. Its an auto trans. What do you guys think it is?

I've had this problem a few times. I'll sometimes try slamming the shift into park or ill shift in to park open the door and rock the car back and forth while trying to turn the key to the lock position. Both methods have worked for me. Eventually it stops having the problem after a week and everything is back to normal.

Anyone know a fix?

This is a common problem in the ignition switches of 3rd gens. The lock cylinders wear out, and won't turn anymore.

If you need an ignition switch Jacob, I have one. You could pick it up if/when you come look at the rest of the parts you asked about on NWW

I might have to pick one up. Do you have the door locks to?

yes I do, Door locks and the back door lock. Matching lock set.

It won't be around for much longer. Come pick this thing clean!
