Today I was driving around and I heard some squealing sound coming from the truck. It was as I was comng around a corner. I came to a stop and it stopped. It sounds like a squealing belt... like a rubber on metal thing. If I drive in reverse, it doesn't make any noise, but if I drive forward, then enter a turn, after entering the turn, it gets really loud, then actually feels like it's somehow binding with something to cause the truck to come to a complete stop, I thought for a second that it may have been that I still have my hubs locked from our snow yesterday, but it doesn't make any difference.

A friend told me he had a car that did that once and that it was one of the pistons on a caliper that was stuck and jamming the pad against the rotor, maybe now it's metal to metal?

Oh, and it's definitely coming from up front...

you may want to take off your pads and see if they're worn out. Also check your rotor to see if there is any visible gouging going on. If you take it to a stealership, they will probably tell you that you need new pads and rotors

So, here's another update. I'm leaving work for lunch today, and I hear this noise again. So, I pull up to a stop sign and begin to make a right turn when I notice that something really feels like it's binding. I roll down my window and hear this horrible creaking noise. and I'm talking loud, and the truck is definitely slowign down more than normal. So, I'm like crap I better get someone to take a look at it. So, I drive to Big-O and I stand in the garage with them for like an hour while we drive it around and they took a look underneath.

Result: I couldn't get it to make the sound again... grrrr.... They looked at everything, including checking out the bad caliper theory. all cv axles look like they're brand new, I just changed the fluid in the trans and txfr case. They couldn't visually see anything wrong anywhere. So, I'm going to have to go over there when I know I can get the truck to make the damn sound. Hopefully I don't get stuck up in the mountains this weekend... all this new snow is too irresistable.

I am so confused. and I wish I knew how to explain this problem better!

I'm very surprised nobody knew what this problem was. The wheel bearing was going out. Needed to be replaced. Had to pay $277 to get ONE replaced.
