Question 87 sputtering

ok i got my 87 4runner back from the local toyota dealer
after they did a timing chain replacement and put in a new clutch
and since then it will idle ok and sputter every few seconds. they had the engin out of the truck and everything seems to be hooked up correct but still the sputtering drives me nuts. i have replaced the plugs , cables and cap and rotor but still same thing but it is ok when the ac is on. what do i need to check?

Hi there David.
Has the fuel filter been replaced?
My GMC Yukon had a hesitation at low speeds. I replaced the fuel filter and it ran great.
Also try a higher octane gas to see if that helps.
