It's a just a $0.10 resistor you can get from Radioshack, spend your money elsewhere.

From the auction

POWER+MODZ - TOYOTA 4RUNNER +10HP!COOL!
So, I hope this is enough. Run. Run away. You own a toyota, not a 92 honda civic. Have a little pride.

Seriously though, stay away from gimmicks. Stay with reputable vendors.

Junk. I would saw-off my muffler before I installed that piece of crap.

Wouldn't you rather slap on a TRD sticker instead of doing that?

Believe it or not, but you really do gain about 5HP by sawing-off the muffler on a 6 cyl.

I would be careful of doing that for fear of CO fumes only. It sounds pretty good.

It's crap for the price, but it's worth "something". As someone else Vato Loco said, it's a 10 cent resistor, and it _will_ buy you some spunk.

If you want to know what it's doing, then search here for info on the "ECT mod". I have some info (and links) on a page I did when I had it installed on my truck:

http://www.midiwall.com/4Runner/ect.html

The short form of what's it's doing is that it's faking out the ECU to think that the engine is running colder than it really is. That causes the ECU to changing the timing and fuel mixture which will give you a boost in power.

Why saw it of 96 when you can just disconnect it whever you want a little spunk!? I do it every now and then for _____s and giggles. Its two bolts and easy a pie to disconnect from the cat. I barely smell any fumes, just don't get stuck in traffic!!! I actually think its slower w/o a muffler though because you have zero back pressure and no low end torque. Haven't done any 0-60 testing but I heard its kinda bad for the engine to not have any back pressure, makes some sence. but, ive done it on a variety of cars and it hasn't done anything so... have a little fun!! It really does sound good. There is a midrange that sounds horrible, but other than that... the back talk when you barely touch the gas petal when the engine is slowing down is awesome too!! Just have some advil waiting at home when you return.

What's he selling, the whole engine? I can't see any mods in the pics on the ebay page. More snake oil for the unsuspecting masses. Save your change and buy a S/C for real hp gains.

Well on my 96 and 00 the second 02 sensor is after the cat. Therefore the rig will freak out if the exhaust is disconnected post cat (at the two bolts you mentioned). Maybe that is why you feel little or no gain.

Another reason is the lack of scavenging effect. By reducing the overall length of the exhaust system...it really could hurt a N/A stock engine on power.

Regardless, it sounds pretty cool. Just make sure that second O2 sniffer is sniffing something.

When the 02 sensor goes out, you will get a CEL. Not "common" on 4Runners, just normal.
