Don't know much about 3rd gen runners, but I had a superlift kit on my Scout and I beat the piss out of it to no fail. That was leafs spring lift though, hardly the same. I would talk to someone at superlift, not a salesman, a technician, and pick their brain. Tell them you are looking at another product and you want to know why you should buy theirs. Usually works. lol

 

K i found a sweet 4-5 inch lift kit made by Superlift. It seems ligit and fits 1996 4runners wich is a 3rd generation just like the 1998 wich i have.Can someone please tell me if it will fit on my 4runner or not? (i just wanna be sure before i go and spend 1k)

This kit is for 2nd gen 4Runners (with torsion bars)

It's odd that they included 96 models, since the year range is normally 86-95 for 2nd Gens.

the link you posted clearly states:

The picture does show 4 coils...
and it should be 90-95 for a second gen...

That lift linked in your other thread will not fit your vehicle.

For a more than 3" lift, (thus the NEED to use a drop bracket type lift), your options are:

Tuff Country 5" (Best on the market)
Fabtech 6"
Trailmaster 6"
Procomp 4"

They are all made for Tacomas. You JUST need the front components. For the rear, you will need Landcruiser springs.

The best, cheapest and probably better option for you would be a 3" suspension and 2" body lift.

As far as where to buy, I haven't got a clue. You might want to check eBay, and some other websites. Most 'hardcore' 4x4 sites wont carry it.

 

just a reminder of forum rules, dont be so quick to make new threads.. i saw you have like 3 on the exact same thing, some one said in a different one a 3' suspension lift with 2"body lift. that would suit your light crawling as wekk as your need for massice tires, however you WILL need tire spacers if you plan on running bigger than 33s cause you will get frame rubbing on tight turns, and the wider ones might begin to rub your upper A arm

how many threads did you start asking about lifts?
what are you gonna do with this truck? what size tires are you gonna run?
you are worried about spending too much on a lift have you thought about how much you are gonna have to spend to re gear your thirds yet?

Ok to erase any confusion I am going to run a 3" lift with a 2-3" bodylift. And I am going to be putting 33-35" mudders with 1.5-2" wheel spacers on it. Im basicaly gonna create a mudd bogging/trail riding machine...

 

how about, 2-3" of lift, tub the firewall, and trim around and fit 35's.

mudd bogging and trail riding are two different aspects of offroading, one needs hp while the other needs gearing.

i would suggest lockers, gears, armor, and a 2-3" lift and fit 33's

bl's are not in my book of things i would want or ever think of doing to my car.

 

bl are basically strictly for mudding, it does no actual lift, you can only run bogger tires.. but if your runnin 35s you DEFINATELY NEED to regear.. either 4.56 or 4.88. It all depends on what you will be doing more of...

 

I have a 96 4runner and i was looking for a 6" lift to and everyone i asked was like your F'n nuts and so i found a solid axle from an 84 on craigslist and come to find out they are the strongest axles toyota has ever made so a SAS would be your best bet but finding a kit is the hard part i found one for a 94 and im in the process of gettin the money for it and ill still have to modify it. The process is kinda long and drawn out but its worth it. Trust Me!

 

Well I think i know where your coming from. I wasn't there all that long ago. But for me i was seventeen with a 2nd gen. I was having to pay for what ever I did, unlike most of my friends who had everything they could imagine. I went cheap and cut corners, It's hurt me in the long run, I've just now gotten all my screw up's fixed. Taken me three years a way to much money but minus a SAS i've got my truck where I want it now, about a 2 inch lift on 33. But when I was in your position I wanted as much lift and tire as I could get. So just think about the long run man.

Oh and yeah mudding is good fun, but be ready to pay for it. water and mud is a nightmare on bearings. I replaced wheel and axle bearing on a regular basis when I was big in to mudding.
