On a serious note... 3vz cams will work in a 5vz... upside? downside?

hahaha thats funny!

lceperformance has some that i was looking at with a budget i dont have. you buy their cams and then use their install to change the lifters to a spring over instead of spring under or visversa i dont recall. said gains of 30 hp or something but that might be the lce head and cams.

its all blurry to me what i can remember....

I've heard of this, too. Seems guys with MR2s that swap in a 5VZ go for the 3VZ cams.

If you dig around an MR2 forum you might have better luck.

how much did the ColtCams cost you? you notice any difference in power or did it just change the powerband of the truck?

using the camry/3vzfe cams or LCE are the only ones I've heard of. The LCE's are well over a grand just for parts.

intersted to hear about those Colt cams though, what kind of difference did they make?

Old thread is old...but...

I don't see a big gain from cams on this motor. The vehicle is just too heavy and would need 50hp gain to be worth it. More importantly, more torque.

V8 or nothing at all if you ask me. Not a fan of the TRD supercharger and no, I have no experience with it so there you go.
