I've got a rattle that I've narrowed down to my 5th gear under a load/acceration. If I put presure onto the shifter (pushing it farther 'into' gear) the rattling goes away until I let off the gas and then it comes back when I accelerate again.

Does this sound like a problem that would be resolved with replacing the shift lever bushing? Shifting is slightly notchy, but not too bad..

 

Mine does this also..But I have the B&M short throw shifter on..It did not do it for the first 6 months after the B&M was installed..It started doing it in 5th gear with a load and now it does it in almost all the gears..

I will be interested to find out any info on a remedy..For now I just turn up the stereo..

 

Ok. I found what the "problem" was. What a relief! I thought I was going to have transmission problems. ..

There were two pennies in a crease in the leather boot. When I shifted into 5th, the leather shifted to allow the pennies to become more vertical.. so they rattled against one another with the slightest of vibration from the transmission. When I pressed the gear lever a little further into gear, the pennies were pressed tight into each other and couldn't rattle.

Maybe I should send this to Toyota so they can issue a TSB!!

Yeah, I feel stupid.. But a least my truck is RUNNIN LIKE A TOYOTA AGAIN!!!
