Question 4WD question

After having noticed this, it just made me curious so I figured I'd ask. When backing up or I guess even going forward slowly (like when you are at a stop and start to move) on a slippery surface like ice in 4-Hi, is it normal for the backwheels to slip some when you are trying to get up something, but the front wheels dont turn or slip at all until you step on the gas a bit more? Just wondered if it was possible for, hmm maybe some kind of vacuum leak or something (no idea) to cause the front driveshaft of an ADD system not to lock all the way or something, I don't figure there is anything wrong, but was just curious weather it was normal or not.
Thanks for reading,
-Bryan

I don't think anything is wrong. Mine does the same thing! This isn't an expert opinion by any means, though.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't think anything was wrong, but thought I'd ask, and I really don't have a perfect understanding of how the 4WD system works with ADD, so I was just curious if it seemed normal hehe.

Usually when backing the right front will spin first for some reason. It could be spinning the RF and you don't notice since you can only see the LF.

Here is a pic of mt LR and RF spinning while backing before I had a rear locker. It looks like no power is going to the front axle but the Right Front is spinning just as much as the Left Rear. I got that stupid fat Ford out in short order, the driver was pissed that my old 4 cyl had to pull out his new 10 cyl.

hahaha, I love that picture, I read the story behind that on here before, I've even showed it to a couple friends of mine hehe..
And yeah, I haven't ever checked to see if the RF spun.
