4wd operation

If I lock the hubs on a 1994 Toyota pickup before I start driving the truck. can I then engage 4wd at any time and at any speed? That's the way it worked on my scout. If it was snowing out I would lock in the hubs before I left and I could engage the 4wd anytime I needed to up to 50 MPH. Someone told me you had to stop the Toyota everytime you wanted to engage 4wd even if the hubs were locked. Is that true? Is that true for the tacomas with manual hubs? I'm thinking about purchasing a toyota truck but I want manual hubs and the ability to engage 4wd while the truck is moving and the hubs are locked.

Thanks

Tobin

yes you can shift into 4 wheel drive if the hubs are locked while driving, just dont shift into 4L while going over 5mph.

Take note that there are different setups on different models.
There's ADD, manual hubs, auto hubs, (and AWD but we don't mention it around here...)
But all can be shifted to and from 4hi on the fly (with manual hubs too assuming they are already locked in.) The sweet setup is ADD *and* manual hubs. Best of both worlds.

Thanks I thought it would be a little odd if it couldn't do it.

Thanks
