I got my alignment done and double-checked a few days later because I noticed the outside edges of the front tires are scrubbing- they are not wearing smoothly. They are starting to look a bit chewed up. The rest of the tire looks fine... they say the alignment is good.
The drive feels smooth, no odd pulling or anything but the outside edges of the tread on the front tires are definitely wearing in a "scrubbed"way that is not the same as the rest of the tires.

Here are the readings:
Left front
caster=0-36'
camber=0-30'
toe= 0.10

Right front
caster=0-18'
camber= 0-06'
toe= 0.05

Any suggestions?

 

Front end alignment was one area I never got very deep into, but from what the repair manual specs are, it looks like your caster is off on both sides.
"Caster (4WD) Right-Left error - 3-13' +- 45' "
The camber appears to be within specs, as is the toe.

 

caster does not make the tires wear odd..... ask away about alignments, i know a good deal, i performed them at work up until i quit last saturday

can you tell me what's going on?
I read somewhere that outer edge wear can be normal on 4x4's and I vaugely recall looking at my tires a long time ago and seeing that wear and thinking.."crappy tires" but I don't know, didn't really pay attention.

Maybe they are just that way? I don't know... I'll post a pic later and see if it's anything out of the norm. Thanks for double checking the specs Techwrench!

Like I said, it drives smooth as butter and no pulling... curious. I just don't want to be eating tires you understand.

 

were the tires that way befroe you had the alignment done? and without being htere i cant really pinpoint how bad it is.... tires on trucks do seem to feather more than tires on cars, but a lot of that is due to weight loads placed on the tire especially when turning, however routine rotations should keep that at bay at least somewhat... if its feathering on one edge, cross rotate it so that it will at least level out.....

if the tires jsut started wearing like that in a few days since the alignment they really screwed up your toe adjustment as bad toe can result in extreme tire wear showing up in only a hundred or so miles, whereas bad camber unless super severe normally takes longer to surface

 

What was the total toe?
