I have been experiencing this exact problem for the past couple months. I have a 2000 4Runner automatic transmission with 125k miles. The problem seems to be more common when the vehicle is cold (as in hasn't been run in awhile, the lows have been in the 60s lately).

So anyway I took it to the dealership today and asked them to look into it. After running their transmission diagnostics, they told me that it had to do with the clutches, and the transmission would need to be replaced.

I found this a little hard to believe, and told them to hold off. I plan on getting a second opinion on the transmission before doing anything. I may also have the rear brakes checked, although the dealership said they were good.

I was quite shocked to hear this, especially with such low mileage for a Toyota. If anyone else has any insight into this it would be greatly appreciated.

2002 Tundra

Hello, new here. I am having the same issue on my 2002 Tundra. Change the A/T fluid, replace the front calipers, took apart the rear drums and shoes, inspected the Wheel cylinders last thing I did was took a part the load sensing proportioning unit and replaced it with a T to bypass it. All to no avail. Next I will just eliminate the e brakes. If someone can give me some pointers it will be much appreciated.
