Does the 2nd and 3rd Gen 4Runners have the towing capacity to flat-tow a '85 4x4 Pickup?

I'm in the market for a new DD and one of my requirements is that it can tow my truck back and forth to the trails.

sure the 2nd and 3rd gen's can tow.....i've had both and towed on a flat car trailer my '71 z28 camaro all over the place to shows etc......

 

Yes, the 3rd gen will do it better though.

 

If I recall my past and recent trips around the Dover area, it's pretty flat terrain. You shouldn't have any trouble. I used to tow a 3,000 lb camper plus supplies and family with my 2nd gen (but you wouldn't want to have been behind me on hills!).
