4Runner Purchase Advice Needed:Part 2

Hi all,
It's me again. I'm still trying to make up my mind. Should trade in my 2001 SR5 2WD for a 1998 Limited 4WD?

I've been doing some thinking and there are three things that I really want but don't have on my 2001: 1) 16" wheels, 2)fender flares, 3)moonroof. (I could probably get by without the 4WD and the leather.)

Can someone tell me if these items can be added and approx. how much it would cost me? Thanks.

try to get more for your 2001 or less for the 98. if he says no, tell him your gonna shop around for a few days and try to point out anything special about yours or any defaults with the 98. emphasize the importance of year and mileage and dont make them think your desperate or NEED to sell it soon. make them think that their not your only option.

In all seriousness, if you sell the 2001 and buy a 98, you're going to lose money. If that is not an issue, then go by it.

However from what it sounds like, you don't want to lose any money but want those certain things you didn't buy outright.

In answer to your questions:

1) 16" wheels- I'm not the expert here, but I believe you may need to regear in order to accomodate those wheels and new tires. Wheels will run you about $600 for used 5 spokes on ebay and who knows what on the tires (depends what you want)

2) Fender flares- again, depends on what you want. Do some research and look at bushwhacker, performance products, and call around for the SR5 fender flares (the black ones, not the silver ones)

3) Moonroof- call your local body shops for referrals. We had a custom van that had a moonroof added in. That think leaked like a spaghetti strainer. So yes, look for a reputable shop.

Sorry I don't have prices but I hope you find what you are looking for.

Bob

All can be added. Do you currently have 15 or 16 in. wheels? Flares will probably run you around $300 to $400. Moonroof, don't know. Hopes this helps.
