4runner Cylinder Misfire/Miss
#21
Hi guys,
Just wanted to follow up to let you know how it went. I picked up the fuel injector, and a couple o-ring kits today (good thing I got the o-rings!). I was able to get the old injector out without removing the bottom of the intake plenum, which made the job much easier (but I tore the o-rings on injector 3 because of it).

The haynes manual says it's supposed to be 12-16 ohms. As you can see, this one is no good.

I guess it didn't actually make it easier, because I had to take it back apart to replace o-rings because I had a fuel leak around injector 3. Oh well, live and learn
Just wanted to say thanks 4runnerFireman. I appreciate your feedback, and I know what else to look for should this happen again, and it isn't the injector.
You know... I was thinking I should change the coil pack for 2 and 5. I put the original back in after I narrowed it down to #2 injector last time... but maybe it's not a coincidence that #5 injector went bad as well. I mean, they DO share that coil pack. I'd hate to ruin two new injectors because I'm an idiot
That's the easiest coil pack to get to anyhow, so I don't really have an excuse not to.

I got the first injector from the dealer @ $200. I bought the second one aftermarket (G.P. Sorensen) for $120. I think I'm going to replace them all this summer, for peace of mind. Then I'll have 4 spares should I get in a pinch.

i had 0300, 0303, 0304 and i replaced the plugs and wires and the problem was solved. The one plug was fouled/discolored. The wire set that i purchased 3.5 years ago was a lifetime set, i exchanged it at no charge today.
I also bought a coil pack just in case but kept it as a last resort in case the tune up didn't work.
So now i have a smooth running 4runner again and an extra coil pack. If anyone wants to buy it let me know.
