What up all? I have been lurking this board for a few weeks now, learning all sorts of ish about the runner. All the homepages you all put together are super helpful and it's great to see what imaginations can do with a car.

I am in the process of selling my Volvo 850 turbo and my next ride is for surez gonna be a 96/97 4Runner SR5 V6 2WD. I got most of my initial mods all lined up and most are going to consist of added HP cuz I know I'm going to miss my 10 psi.

In my search for a 4R I have developed a question. I did read this post at 4x4wire but am curious to know if there are any weak points not mentioned. The two posts describing items to check didn't lead me to believe that they were weak points, but more of a 10 point inspection.

Any help would help so TIA. -Stu.

 

From what I have read, there is a head gasket recall on the 96-97's and I believe the rear shocks are also recalled. Hope this helps.
