quick question... I might be able to get my hands on some 3rds with lower gearing from a 98 taco. I own a 88' 3.0 V-6 runner and am wondering if the 3rds would fit or not. thanks Derrick

 

Stock Taco rear diff won't work (7.5"). The TRD Tacos diff have the e-locker and can bolt up with some modification of the axle housing. Or you could use a stock 4Runner rear diff which should bolt up without modification.
BTW, I have a rear 3rd with 4.10 out of my 1999 4Runner with 25K miles on the diff. Let me know if you're interested in it.

 

Stock non-TRD Taco rear is 8.4" and will not fit.

E-locked thirds will not fit without modifying the housing.

 

thanks for replying back guys. I had an idea that they wouldn't, but you can't hold it against me for hoping. I already have open thirsd with 4:10s, so I''ll have to pass them.
