So my rear differential is growling and getting louder by the day. Not happy with the suggestions of a few local mechanics to replace the whole rear axel ($2800!!!), I found one honest enough to suggest replacing the 3rd member from a donor (thanks for the help yotatech posters!). I've called most all of the local salvage operations, but none seem to have the part. I know the gear ration 4:10, w/o the locker - but some ask me about ABS - should that matter for a 99 4runner SR5 3rd?

Also, I've done some searching and found some out of state salvage yards with the part at a decent price. Should I be concerned about "long distance" purchasing? What are some of the pitfalls I should look out for?
