3rd Generation wheel vibration question

OK, as we've all experienced, the 4runner (I have 1999 SR5) and the tire/wheel vibration is annoying, and tough to find a tire dealer who has a clue with using the Hunter 9700 and lug adaptor (I've yet to find someone who will use both together).

Being tired of it never getting glass smooth, will getting rid of the toyota aluminum wheels and replacing with a quality upgrade make the problem go away, since I'm assuming most manufacturers use hub centric vs. lug centric in their design?

This obviously takes into consideration a proper tire balance (I have near new Michelin LTX M/S 265/70 16 less than 5K).

I had the same problem too when i got my tires installed at Discount Tires here in El Monte. Those a-holes tried to give me the Armo run around. Grrr... Anyways, the problem was fixed when I got my wheel alignment at Longo Toyota who has a Hunter machine. I"m surprised that a local Toyota shop near you does not have it. Did you try all the OC Toy dealerships?

I work near South Coast in Costa Mesa. I know they have the machine, and I'll call them today and see if they read their TSB's on using a lug adaptor (required) when balancing tires on the 4runner.

I guess it's worth another try, since $100 ( or less) is better than a whole set of wheels.

Did your vibration go away completely? I've had mine close (Discount Tire) but I still get enough to be annoying between 65-70, which is 90% of what I drive.
