Anyone have this? My ride, 2001, shouldn't have this but I'd swear that it's getting lower in the rear.

in your 01, that is strange.

i had 70K or so on my springs before i swapped out to pp springs.

they didnt sag at all.

 

I have an 01 Tacoma with 73,000 and no sag at all and no problem with the shocks. They are just about as stiff as new. Maybe you have a leaf broken, I broke one last year. Sometimes you really have to look for it because it could be broke in the middle. Mike

 

Just pop in a one inch spacer Im sure plenty of people here can point you in the right direction for a 1 inch spacer.

Rear sag in a 3rd gen 4Runner is not normal. Tossing a spacer on top of a problemed situation would just mask the problem. As mentioned, get your shock and springs checked. If you've done a lot of heavy duty towing or load carrying that has caused premature wear, go with some after market improvements.

Will just putting some air shocks in the back help take out the sag in my 04 tacoma 4X4. I can't afford a lift right now, but want to lift the back end a little

 

They all sag eventually, I have 99' which came with the tallest springs and it was sagging til I replaced them. Best bet is to search all the different posts and find the best solution for you. Spacers will work for a quick fix but will destroy your springs in the long run. Shocks will not do anything unless they are adjustable air shocks. Best bet is to get some Performance Products (PP), Old Man Emu (OME), or Downey rear springs, new Toyota ones will fail again.

 

I have an 02 sport and i am looking into the PP springs or the SS#2 kit. I tow a bass tracker boat and an 8 x10 trailer on occasion and i guess it has worn things a little quicker than i wanted. The rear shocks are worn (really bouncy)

 

The 01, and 02 are the lowrider years for the 3rd generation 4runner due to the rear coils.
So to answer your question: yes people have this.

 

sorry to hyjack but if i went with the PP 1 inch springs for the 99 would it give me 2 more inches of lift?

 

I have never owned the PP springs, but it all depends on how low your car is now. I put Downey 2 " ones on my 99' originally and it sat 1/2" taller in the rear. I would guess and anybody else is free to correct me but the PP springs are more of a rear leveling lift than actual lift. I think PP advertises 1" over stock. And 99's are already taller so I would imagine it would sit fairly level. I have some pictures I could PM you later of what my 99 looked like with the Downeys.

 

The PP springs are supposed to lift my truck 1". If i went with the 99 springs then it would sit higher than if i went with the 02 springs. So i should get at least 2 inches of lift... I just wish there was a better option for 4runners that tow a lot.

I figured i would just go ahead and change out the front springs also. I have to replace all 4 shocks. Just looking into my options.

 

Guys, he said he's got a Tacoma......that's got leaf springs in the rear.

stiven, you may be able to rig up a cheap airbag setup but some new Deaver springs from Sonoran Steel would work alot better.

 

Yea but I think the rest of the guys were talking about 4Runners... this forums's all mest up! Like he said though he can put air shocks on it, not the best route but that's what he said he wants, an add a leaf might be cheaper. As for the 4Runners they need air bags or springs.

 

99 4runner, 140,000 miles, no sag. and I haul crap.

some days I thought it was sagging, then realized I had a cord
of wood stuffed in it incl the front pass seat

it doesn't take much weight at all to make it sag a little,
but empty or with 50lbs in it, sag doesn't happen on 3rd gen

check yer rear swaybar bushings and links. shocks don't do anything for
sag unless they are the wrong size, it is all in the coil springs.

 

How does that work exactly?
