3rd gen wire color to tap into low beams

Just wondering which wire I should tap into to get the low beam circuit? Seems like most are freeing themselves from this limitation and tapping the parking lights, but I would rather take the low beam route. Any help would be much appreciated!! I checked the wiring this morning and if I remember correctly there were 3 wires... red/black, red/white, red/green. I don't have a volt meter, so I apologize for such an elementary request.

You can't tap in at the headlights. All three wires will be hot when the lights are on. Toyota uses a reversed ground headlight system.

The best place to tap is in the steering column. You will find a wire bundle leaving the right side of the column. Use a circuit probe and probe the wires until you find the one that is hot only when the low beams are on or what ever light you want to trigger off of. Tap that wire and run that to your dash switch, then run the wire from the switch out to the relay in your engine compartment.

This way, you can leave the switch on all the time and your aux lights will go on and off with your service lights so you do not have to worry about leaving them on, but can still independantly turn them off when you want.
