3rd gen still available

The new '03 Runner model was designed for the North American market, the previous three generations of Runner were built for the world stage. That global positioning allowed Toyota to offer the Runner in developing countries and the size of the vehicle reflected the amount of tax paid. Some countries charge tax on the width of the vehicle. Now that the 'tax rate' has increased by 3 inches, is Toyota still offering the 3rd generation in other parts of the world? I couldn't image a topped out 4th generation with leather driving through Afghanistan or Cambodia. I would be curious to see the 3rd generation and its continued evolution. Or, did Toyota completely kill the 3rd generation globally?

I wouldnt say the 4th Gen was made specifically for the North American market. Yes we may be the only area to get the V8 but the larger body stlye is a continuation of the Prado which either has been around or compltely replaced the 3rd gen some time ago in other markets.

In some countries the tax rate is levied by the width of the vehicle. The new Runner has increased by 3 inches in width, hence, the tax rate has increased by three inches in some countries.
