3rd gen radio install questions

I used the search feature and couldn't find what I am looking for.
I am trying to install a stereo into my 98 4Runner and am having no success at the moment. I was able to get the pieces around the e-brake and shifter off, but the big radio bezel is giving me problems. It seems that the climate control piece is trying to come out with it. Is there anything special you have to do to get this piece off or should I just gently pull harder. Thanks in advance!!

Take a look at 4Runners.org. There are some great install write-ups there.

That thing just pops out, after you take the two screw out by the shifters, just gently pull it away from the center piece, make sure you take out the ashtray, AC nobs, and cigarette lighter first, next thing is once you pop it out, take all the connections from the back of the center panel.
