Year - 1997
Model - SR5 4wd
Cruise Control Use - Multiple times daily
Miles - 211k
Mine didn't seem to work when I bought it, but then I figured out the clutch pedal wasn't always fully returning, leaving the switch for the cruise open and effectively disabling it. I simply pull the pedal out with my toe if it doesn't spring all the way out, and it works every time. Just a thought...

it works well enough... up hills to maintain speed it makes the tranny shift a little hard, and it will stay at high rpms for a bit too long (30 ish secconnds) otherwise its great

Mine worked fine until splicing the wires for the trailer. (the trailer controller is dead). One of the cancel signals comes from the brake light-hence, no cruise when I run the headlights.
Slated to get fixed.

Works like it's suppose to..
Year - 1999
Model - Limited 4wd
Cruise Control Use - Limited, 2x/month
Miles - 140k+
I've only had it for 6 months so as for the previous owner(s) there is no tellin' how much the CC was used.

Mine wasn't working but I just replaced the airbag clockspring, AKA spiral cable, this past weekend and now it works beautifully.

Works Great
1998 SR5 V6
171 000 kms on original engine
I too find that the Cruise downshifts too much on hills, but I hear that is normal for these trucks. I researched the truck before I bought it, and Lemon Aid said that it was common.
I don't know how to fix your problem though, good luck at fixing it....
