3.slow power and mpg mods

I was wondering if any of the 3.0 guys that get decent power could make some recommended mod progressions. I have a K&N and cat back, and it's still a big wuss.

Check this page out for some info on what some of us have done for more oomph. But keep in mind that even if you do all these things, it's still not gonna be a rocket. If anything, it'll have more torque than before because that's what the 3.0 was designed to do... have more torque for towing over the 2.4.

Swap in some 31" tires and you'll feel like you've got a sports car.

Since you're probably not going to do that, re-gear. You're asking your engine to push the vehicle 7% farther at the same RPM's using an engine that didn't have a lot of power to spare to begin with.

The 3.0 is a great little engine with a torque curve that comes on early and stays pretty flat. So revving it really is an excercise in futility. Drive it low on the RPM's and you'll begin to appreciate it for what it is...a truck engine.

I can get 275 miles on a tank of gas with 33's and 5.29's on the parasitic automatic. The speedo and odometer are right on according to a trip lasting 1400 miles.

New gears make a world of difference for mileage. Acceleration will never get great.
