I might sell my 91 runner, but if I don't, I will want to ethier put a new 3.0 in or swap a 3.4 in. I have never done a job so big but I am somewhat mechanically inclined. so should i try and swap or just get a low mileage 3.0. Am I biting off more than I can chew?

p.s. both engines will be about the same price and I don't think I can pay someone to do this for me

 

Later model 'Runners with 3.4s in them already are getting cheap (or cheapER....Toys are always pricey!) now. I wouldn't bother swaping a 3.4. Not that it couldn't be done. But it would be just one little headache after another instead of being out there and enjoying the truck. I'd upgrade to something newer (if funds are there). What happened to the 3.0 litre to warrant the question?

 

ehhh, its not hard at all if you find an engine on the cheap.

IMO if you can snag a newer runner for a good price, thats probably the better option.

My current swap is probably the 4th time I have done something like this and its getting to be downright easy. If you have never done this kind of thing before you should multiply whatever ammount of time you think its going to take by like 4

the reason I asked this is cause my engine is old (295k) and it's burnin more gas lately. I put it up for sale but I really don't want to sell it. If I do, later on I will buy a 3rd gen 4runner
