I already did one side. valve cover gasket, a small bead of sealant around whole thing and spark plug tube grommets. I need to make sure they are correct! Do the channel of the oring face motor or outwards? here is a pic of someone elses but i need to know if this is right?


to me this looks backwards? should the oil be kept in, this appears the oil would gush our of spark plug tubes...

The orientation shown in the first picture of the valve cover is correct. That slightly beveled smooth surface on the seal (your left hand pic on red background) will slip down the spark plug tube giving a nice tight seal.

 

Ok cool thanks. I forgot I already posted that and I ruined 3 new ones with engine degreaser. Autozone has new felpro ones I picked them up now.

 

Put a little grease around the lip of the grommet for an easier install onto the spark plug tube.
