3.4 knocking p1300
Started all of a sudden. Only code so far was a p1300. Runs but knocks and skips. Don’t know if it’s valves or spark knock. Just replaced the igniter. And number 3 spark plug was loose. Tightened it up and it ran and there was no knocking for about 5 minutes and then it came back. Have some coil packs coming but just wondering if anyone else has ran into this?

This code should shut off the fuel you did not mention that? It will crank it will start and shut off As soon as the code is cleared it will come right back to the problem is cured.
The 2 different engines I had this code one was a bad ECM from getting wet the ECM does not like water.
The second one was a broken wire in the harness coming off the igniter which was inside the insulation the vibration would open the circuit at random then always seem to test good with the meter .
A long slow process or fire the parts cannon sooner or later you might get lucky.
So many knock offs and poor quality parts out there.
Best of Luck!!

Mine had a pretty massive misfire - came on all of a sudden but knocked like a diesel. Turned out to be dodgy ignition wires which i replaced and solved the problem. Also changed the coil boots at the same time. The original wire boots all had carbon tracks burnt through them.

Finally figured it out. Number 3 cylinder spark plug was loose and when I pulled up to out i seen the tip of the spark plug was broken off inside the cylinder. Blew it out and new plug and it runs perfect. Hope didn’t do too much damage didn’t run long like that.
