3.4 froze, blown freeze plugs, water in oil
alright well a friend of mine is trying to sell me his 97 tacoma. it had water in the cooling system (no antifreeze) and it got cold enough to blow the freeze plugs. Now it has water in the oil. it hasnt been driven. the truck is a 4x4 extended cab auto. i can get it for 1000 bucks. do you think it will need a new engine or just new heads or gaskets?

Just how much water in the oil when it was first checked was the dip stick coated to the top.
Did the water push the dip stick out ?? A path of oil and water down the side of the block?
How long did it sit like this big swings in temperature will get lots of condensation in the oil.
Once that first freeze plug popped out any pressure was out of the cooling system.
