Just a quick tip.

While driving today I lost some power and the engine started missing and shaking like Jiffy Pop. I pulled over and checked under the hood and while poking around I was subjected to several quick electrical shocks.

Long story short, my pass. side rear sparkplug (#6?) wire had come loose from the loom and rested against the EGR valve tube. This slowly burnt through the wire, causing it to ground rather than make a spark, hense my problem.

I saved my 2 longest wires from when I replaced them a year ago, so its back up and running fine, but be sure to keep an eye on those wires, a new set is $50 or more and they won't sell you just one.

The same exact thing happened to me a while back. Much like you, I opened the hood with the engine running and noticed the plug wire arcing on the egr tube and, of course, I reached down and grabbed it - ZZZAAPPP! Wooohooo! Gave me an instant boy band hair do. Yep, make sure those wires are secured outta the way. mmmkay?...

If tou make Jiffy Pop on the stove and you don't shake it around like a mad man the whole time it burns and tastes gross. Jeez, go eat some popcorn.

Same thing here but I couldnt find my miss. I even went as far as to change out my new set of plugs I had just put in with the old set getting the same result. I started thinking it was a dead cylinder being I had spark. I figured it was a bad fuel injector so I took it in. It cost me $20 to find out my plug wire had rubbed against the egr and it was the slightest pin hole in the wire. The tech taped it up and I need a new set but keep putting it off being its working for now. I want to go accel though!

Invest in some good wires, I bought some NGK's exactly for that reason, they have the reassuring "click" when you properly install them on the plug. The other one's I had on would never let me know whether they were seated properly or not. They were pretty cheap too--like $30 check out sparkplugs.com

This happened to me a few years back, pre-YotaTech.

Was taking my youngest son home and only made it a few blocks.
Rig was running fine, then all of a sudden it shook & spit.

Went back home and the next morning I popped the hood in the dark and I could see the plug wire had burned from leaning up against the EGR valve.

Put electrical tape on it and headed to Toyota, then a block away the tape burned through
Bought new wires, all was well, and they fixed the loom too, as it was missing a piece to hold the wire out.

there are supposed to be plastic wire guides there to hold the wires and prevent the wire from touching the exhaust. I know for a fact the last people to change the wires were the same techs I paid $20 to, to get the tape job. But no proof that they tossed or lost them so my problem not theirs. Also not there problem they broke my old throttle body hose on removal or broke one of my fuel rail bolts. Good ol responsibility.
