In the process or rebuilding my 3.0, I broke something. It is a brass plug that threads into the aluminum part on top of the intake manifold that the heater hoses come out of. There is a blue plasic "tree" on top of the plug where 2 vaccuum hoses attach. It is on the passenger side, just behind the right fuel rail.

I need to know what it is; thanks in advance.

The part that sits on top of the intake manifold that your broken part screws into is called the coolant bypass outlet. In my FSM I see the part that I think you are talking about labeled as 'TVV'. You should be able to go to the dealer with this info and they'll be able to get you what you need.

It's called a Thermal Vacuum Valve (TVV). It has vacuum applied on one side all the time. There is a wax pellet inside the brass part that is made to open up at a certain temperature. When this temperature is reached, vacuum is allowed to travel freely to the other hose on the fitting. In short, it's a valve that opens up at a designated temperature.

They are pricey s.o.b.s though, be prepared to spend between 40-50 bucks. If you look on the back side, there should be an Aisin part number. You might also see if someone has a used one that they can sell you.

Also, if you're TVV isn't bad, like you only broke off one leg, you could probably get away with a little super glue or some epoxy. Good luck.

i broke the top stub off of mine. I found a small piece of metal that almost fit, but I had to drill it out a little, but it fit tight. Then i got some epoxy and went around it to make sure it sealed, and it has worked fine for me ever since

 

Thanks alot, especially to wrench for the detailed explaination. I will proably end up gluing it and smearing a little rtv on the seam to make sure it is air tight...that is unless anyone else out there has one that they want to send my way.
