Okay, im a damned copy cat, just did this today. Looks way better IMHO. Didnt use any paint remover or anything like that though, just steel wool with compound to get down to chrom, and a rag and compound to make it purdy. Just dont push too hard with the wool, otherwise it scratches the ˟˟˟˟ out of the chrome. Im definately diggin' the look though. Thanks for the great idea Maddog!!

what other parts are painted like this?? the shroud around the headlights??

My dad said that they could have done it for a smoother finish for the black paint, as the chrome provides a nice surface to paint on.

on mine, the whole grille (including headlight portions) are painted over chrome.
