I might be buying a 92 4runner with light frontend damage. It needs a new fender and bumper. I was looking for replacement parts and noticed the 3rd and 2nd gen parts are very close in price. Is it possible to swap frontends? would 3rd gen fenders bolt up. headlights? Bumper? I know its probably not a direct bolt on but has anyone tried it.

I know that the 3rd gen bumper can be adapted to fit, but I have no clue and I imagine it requires some welding. The headlights and grill will not fit.

here is a thread from a 4runner on ebay that swapped out the 2nd gen bumper for the 3rd gen 1996 bumper. looks enticing.
