I just find it silly to hamper performance just for the sake of looks,it happens all the time in the import car world.
Bigger wheels = slow, hinders handling, hinders your bank account.

Todd,

I can't take all the credit. I think the bling gauge was originally posted by Vato Loco (I think). I liked it so much, that I kept it (the gauge, not the bling )

I'd never do it to my own rig, but to each his own. I think they look cool, I just prefer my own different cool. I'm glad we are not all alike or the world would be a BORING place!

In my opinion, I don't think they would look all that great on a 4-Runner.

This is IMO but I don't think there is any point in buying an SUV made for off-roading and then lower it and throw rims on it that will bend at the sight of any kind of bump.

But if you can make it look good and be practical then thats good for you...post pics if you ever get them installed.

I just went from !5" rims and all terrain tires to a set of 20" rims and I notice no difference in acceleration. Which is possible since I am now running a smaller overall diameter tire and rim combo. I also have a much smoother ride as the all terrains were not too comfortable. I knew that they weren't going to be but I was into the all terrain phase at one time so I got them. Now I know that 24's are a different story from 20's but I say do what you want man.
OH and something to really make you guys sick...At NOPI nationals I saw an Escallade on 26" spinnners.

Not only was it a street queen and a show car *gasp*, but it was also a 4wd at one time so he had the front axles removed *GASP* so that he could lower it further! *FAINT* BLASPHEMY!! This guy obviously posted here on an off-road forum because this is probably the best resource available on the net for information regarding 4Runners.
I'm not trying to say that what he's doing is bad, If he wants to put 24" rims on his 4-runner, then good. I don't care what he does to his 4-runner. What I'm trying to say is stated in what you just said, "but it was also a 4wd at one time so he had the front axles removed *GASP* so that he could lower it further!" All I have to say is WHY? If he'd bought a 2wd then he wouldn't have had to pay to remove all those parts. Plus why have a transfercase? It adds more weight. It's just annoying when people don't think of design and function.

23x10 is the biggest wheel that will fit on a stock 4runner. That in mind, you will have to run a very low pro tire like a 25 series which will easily curb. If I was gonna put wheels on, like I thought about doing at one time, I would run 22s with a 285/35/22 or 285/40/22 series tire.
