I just find it silly to hamper performance just for the sake of looks,it happens all the time in the import car world.

In my opinion, I don't think they would look all that great on a 4-Runner.
This is IMO but I don't think there is any point in buying an SUV made for off-roading and then lower it and throw rims on it that will bend at the sight of any kind of bump.
But if you can make it look good and be practical then thats good for you...post pics if you ever get them installed.

I just went from !5" rims and all terrain tires to a set of 20" rims and I notice no difference in acceleration. Which is possible since I am now running a smaller overall diameter tire and rim combo. I also have a much smoother ride as the all terrains were not too comfortable. I knew that they weren't going to be but I was into the all terrain phase at one time so I got them. Now I know that 24's are a different story from 20's but I say do what you want man.
OH and something to really make you guys sick...At NOPI nationals I saw an Escallade on 26" spinnners.

23x10 is the biggest wheel that will fit on a stock 4runner. That in mind, you will have to run a very low pro tire like a 25 series which will easily curb. If I was gonna put wheels on, like I thought about doing at one time, I would run 22s with a 285/35/22 or 285/40/22 series tire.

my buddy has a gmc denali on 24s, they look sick. some day we are gonna put em on the yota because it would be hilarious. (same bolt pattern). hi i drive a lifted old yota with 24s, how often do you hear that.
