Question 22RE rough running

Hi everyone,

I just finished replacing the timing chain and head gasket on my 93 22RE. It started right up, but it sounds horrible. It really sounds like it no longe has an exhaust system. After running a few minutes it also want to stal, but then revs back up. It continues revving up and down all on its own. I took it for a drive around the block and it seems underpowered, besides being very loud! Any ideas what might bw wrong? My buddy says I have a vaccum lak somewhere, but I am thinking it might be the timing. Any help anyone can offer would be great.

Thanks,
Robert

I would also check for a vacuum leak.Take some gumout and spray around where the intake and plenum are and any vacuum lines and see if the idle goes up,that will indicate a leak.
