Hi David,
When we did my son's 22re, we put in the TRD stage 1 cam, cause I didn't want any problems with computer compatibility. I know it ran better with the TRD than stock. He even got it "documented" at 91 MPH in eastern WA.

Just remember, a cam doesnt do squat if you dont increase the breathing capabilities on both sides of the head. Make sure you have a good intake and header/exhaust combo with that cam. To really finish it off, port and polish the head.

costs
I am trying to keep the cost to the lower side of low.. the gasket set and timing kit (with steel guide) together with shipping is just under $110 a RV cam from the net would run around $60. I don't have a header but I am running the K&N. I figured the different cam could increase the hp a small amount without the other mods.
Thanks all!

My buddies and I used to all have tweaked out 22re. While everythings apart, i recommend getting the head port and polished ($350) and getting the Crane Cam stage 2 camshaft. From personal experience, I know this combo will throw you against your seat and offer much more performance than any other mods you can do. It is the easiest way to add probably about 20-25 hp depending on other mods. Not sure if your exterior is stock looking or not, but my buudy had this combo with a bored block, intake, downey header, hi-flo cat, electric fan, and flowmaster and it was all stock looking. Sleeper style. He would tear apart most cars on the street and shock the drivers. This combo would be difinetly worth. If u dont have the $$$ save till u do or you;ll regret it.
