I've got an 84 pickup. This morning I started it up drove down my street then started driving up a hill. It started stumbling and lost power. I put it in nuetral trying to rev it to keep it alive, but it died, then wouldn't start.

I took the fuel line off to make sure fuel is coming out of the pump to the carb. I can get the car to run by slowing pouring fuel directly into the carb through the air intake so it seems that the carb simply isn't getting fuel even though the pump is sending it. I thought the pump just might be weak, so I replaced it. It started, idled for about 30 seconds, then the same thing.

What can this be? I'm completely lost.
