22 to 302 Engine swap?
Hello out there,
I am looking for anybody that has performed a ford 302 engine swap into their Yota? I Picked up the truck from a friend a few months ago with a blown head gasket. Ended up putting a new head and aftermarket cam in it. Still no power though! I need more power to pull my Baja around on a flatbed trailer. Other than the lack of power the truck is awesome, even with 225k's on the ticker. Anybody aware of problems i might run into if i go with this swap. I plan on using all the NWOR parts that they make for this swap. I read that using the stock 5- speed tranny will work if not abused too hard? I have decided to go with the ford V-8 because i won't have to worry about power issues and because i want nothing to do with GM products; I.E. Buick V-6, Chevy V-6 or 350 V-8!!!!! I'd Rather keep my 22r than use a bowtie!! Any insights or help would be appreciated. Thanks

i looked into it, it was gonna be so expensive that i would have been able to afford a old beater truck just to pull my other truck around with....youll find lots and lots of probelms when you do this swap.....ie your swapping in a ford not a chevy....

Actually the 302 is pretty dependable engine. If you haven't already check out this web-site
Good luck. It'll provide you with a ton of power. And from what I've read pretty good gas mileage.
