When the 03 4Runners first came out, everyone said the same thing. Ugly, they would never buy one, etc. Then people started buying them, and now look at how many 4th gen 4Runner owners are on the board.

i dont know what you guys are putting it down for... its no bulkier than the 4th gen runner... itll be great on the trails, great on the road, its powerful and reliable like any other yota.

dont put it down because of its slick styling, its just trying to compete in today's market.

i love it in comparison to the competition.

Excellent point. With a lift and some beefy meats, everyone will want one.

I think we'll all get used to it , and like it.....eventually. When I first got a glimpse my first thought UNFORTUNATELY was double cab dodge dakota. It has very similar lines. I do think that when people start building them up we'll all want one!
I personally cant wait to see the fullsize trucks - I tow my trail rig so I am patiently waiting for a 3/4 ton Toy with a diesel (and it better SMOKE a Cummins 600), and I know for a fact they are coming!!!

I wish they would just keep the smaller size of the old 3rd gen runner and tacos.

I heard there is a new truck planned, it will be called the "Taquito" it will look identical to the new Tacoma but be 3/4 scale...

It's definitely taller than 2001-2004. I'm assuming those guys are the same height as me (5"9-10) and the cab is taller. I'm just a hair taller than my cab.

this discussion sounds just like the one that happened when the new 4runner came out. everyone was like "its ugly", "I'm glad I bought mine when I did" .. and then 4-6 months later, everyone is like "I love it" ... "its perfect", "wow, they make a spacer kit for it now, so its perfect"

like it, love it, hate it ... doesn't matter. It will sell .. there was too much research and development done for it not to.

Auto and truck photos can often give a misleading impression. It is entirely possible that the truck may look better in person than in a 2 dimensional photograph.

Well its personal preference/needs. Some like it big some don't. If small is your taste, you can always buy used.

Really? I don't see it. Obviously you don't expect the new ones to look exactly like the 04's do you?

I can see how it would look like a Titan - the Tacoma grills have gotten increasingly bigger over the last few years and this is, of course, the biggest yet. The Titan has a large grill with a lot of chrome. The 01-04 grill is not quite as thick as this one is so naturally the chrome is going to be much more prominent.

For what it's worth, I think the Satoshi mod would look awesome off of this grill

that bigmouth grill is a little too obnoxious. reminds me of the ford grills. the wheel well angles are a bit strange. but overall, it does have a rather interesting beefy look to it.

it's weird i didn't like the new 4runners at first, but i do like this one.
and yes sdastg1, "i'm glad i bought mine when i did." the 4th gen runners are rad, but my preference goes to the 3rd body style.

anyway, this new taco looks good. it'll be interesting to see some modded up.
