Someone in that post mentioned that the Sequoia with the new engine is supposed to get 16/22 MPG. If we could get the same MPG from a 4WD V8 runner that would be awesome.

Yeah that's pretty impressive considering the Toyo's V8 is almost a full liter smaller. But the 4.7L has a secret weapon.... a S/C

The Thing about Toyota is I think they could build a really good big diesel with their expierience building smaller diesels for years and years. I bet they'd have the Cummins sweating.

Adam: Diesel is coming. So is a big V8 and so is an alternative to a big block V8...think more cylenders
CoedNaked: Toyota has been building big diesels for a long long time already. They have a heavy truck line outside the US called Hino. They make fire trucks and all kinds of big trucks. Toyota knows diesel. The problem is, a lot of American diesel buyers are VERY brand loyal. You don't know how many people hate dodge's but buy them just because of the cummins, and vice versa with ford. IMHO, the best thing would be for Toyota to scoop cummins out from under dodge. That would be GREAT!
RalleRunner: It will be a long long long time, if ever, that you get a hybrid that pulls like a diesel. The electric motors are great for start up torque but they would have to advace the technology for the hybrids to be able to hang on hills when loaded.
